Convening Communities

Since its inception, the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund has supported local communities with conservation grants that protect fragile destinations with capacity grants totaling over half a million in the last five years. The Convening Communities initiative connects not only our grantees to each other but to our members and partners in the travel and travel gear industries.

Objectives

To provide a platform and opportunities for the various groups that make up the ATCF community to connect, share, and find solutions.

  1. Give grantees a platform to build community amongst themselves

  2. Provide networking opportunities for members, and potential new members

  3. Facilitate learning opportunities between members and grantees

Convening Grantees

ATCF grantees are small organizations scattered all over the world. They have not had a chance to meet each other. Our goal is to provide all our grantees with an opportunity to connect with each other, learn and share best practices, thereby amplifying the impact of the funding given to each of them. The community will be self-directed in discussions and the ATCF will serve the role of facilitator.

Convening Members

In addition to providing an opportunity for ATCF members to nominate and vote on projects, the ATCF needs to add additional value to our membership. The makeup of ATCF members is a mixture of travel industry and gear retailers, two groups who often don’t have an opportunity to connect and harness the potential of these new relationships. By providing a platform to connect, our members can learn from each other, form new business relationships, and create a sense of community centered around conservation.

Convening Members and Grantees

These are two core groups and stakeholders of the ATCF who have never had a chance to connect with one another. By providing a platform for them to share and connect, our goal is threefold:

  1. For ATCF members to have a quick and informative way to learn about the projects that they have helped fund

  2. To use this knowledge to share stories about their involvement with ATCF with their clients

  3. For our members to build closer relationships with potential funders (our business member clients).
