Anne Wood, Sr. Director Trip Development & Operations, MT Sobek
I bring 26 years of experience in the adventure travel industry and an understanding of how tourism potentially impacts both destinations and communities. I have broad networking capabilities with a global reach, and a personal commitment to protecting natural resources and supporting local communities.
I've supported international development initiatives as an independent consultant on USAID-funded projects in Lebanon (focused on agriculture and rural empowerment), and Croatia (focused on the support of Croatia’s democratic and economic development after the Yugoslav wars and through its post-transition period.)
I’ve also volunteered with the Breast Cancer Fund (now Breast Cancer Prevention Partners) as a “Strong Voice” ambassador for Climb Against the Odds, mentoring and preparing fundraising teams for high-altitude climbs of Mount Shasta to advance environmental health advocacy and cancer prevention.
Describe any previous or current experience you have working with nonprofits, foundations or conservation organizations.
Describe any current or previous experience in fundraising and development.
As the departmental Director of Administration & Development at UC Berkeley, I led fundraising strategy and advancement operations for an academic department, overseeing donor relations, annual and major gifts, alumni engagement, and special initiatives. I partnered with faculty and university leadership to identify funding priorities, cultivate prospects, and secure philanthropic support. I managed development communications, events, and stewardship activities while directing administrative operations, budgeting, and cross-functional staff to strengthen departmental growth and sustainability.
As per above, I've also been a volunteer “Strong Voice” ambassador with the Breast Cancer Fund (now Breast Cancer Prevention Partners), and Climber for ‘Climb Against the Odds’ teams of Mount Shasta to raise funds for advance environmental health advocacy and cancer prevention. As part of this role, I was responsible for a minimum annual fundraising goal.
I would like to apply my travel industry experience in a meaningful and impactful way.
