ATCF BOARD OF DIRECTOR

NOMINATIONS

The ATCF is excited to open nominations for two member-elected seats on the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund Board of Directors and invite our membership community to help shape the future of our organization. This is an opportunity to elevate leaders from within our network who are passionate about conservation, collaborative action, and the role travel can play in protecting the places we love.

Do you know someone (or are you someone) who brings strong leadership, diverse perspectives, and a commitment to community-led conservation? We encourage you to nominate a fellow member who is ready to contribute their expertise, energy, and vision to help steer the ATCF into its next chapter.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Adventure Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF) is seeking board members who are passionate about conservation and eager to help strengthen our mission through strategic leadership, fundraising, and relationship-building. Ideal candidates bring strong networks and a strategic ability to connect ATCF with partners and supporters who care deeply about conservation and community-led impact. They bring knowledge of philanthropy, experience engaging donors, and a comfort with asking individuals to support meaningful work. We are also considering candidates outside the travel industry who have experience in conservation, can broaden ATCF’s reach and bring fresh perspectives. Strong candidates will have prior board or senior leadership experience and an entrepreneurial mindset, with a willingness to help shape new initiatives and contribute to the long-term vision of the organization. They should also have an interest in stepping into leadership roles over time, such as serving as an officer or committee chair. As board members, they will actively participate in meetings and strategic planning, champion ATCF’s mission, attend events, support fundraising efforts, and help connect ATCF with new partners, donors, and opportunities that advance community-led conservation around the world.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE ON OUR BOARD?

Serving on The Adventure Travel Conservation Fund Board of Directors is a meaningful leadership opportunity to help shape the future of global, community-led conservation through travel.

Board members act as stewards of our mission. They provide strategic guidance, uphold strong governance, support fundraising efforts, and serve as ambassadors for the ATCF within the travel and outdoor community. This includes participating in regular board meetings, engaging in committee or working group efforts, and lending expertise to strengthen our programs and partnerships.

Above all, board service is about showing up. Bringing your voice, experience, and perspective to the table. Helping guide decisions that expand impact and ensure the ATCF remains a trusted force for conservation worldwide.

  • All candidates interested in a Board position must be a paying member in good standing with the ATCF.

  • The term of service for a Director is up to a maximum of three years. Directors may serve up to two consecutive terms, with an optional third term.

MEMBER-ELECTED BOARD PROCESS

So, how does this all work? Our board election process is designed to be transparent, inclusive, and member-driven.

First, we invite nominations from across our paid membership and broader community. This is your opportunity to put forward leaders who reflect our values and bring diverse experience to the table.

Next, all submitted applications are reviewed by ATCF staff and Board of Directors. Together, we evaluate candidates and create a shortlist of individuals who best align with the organization’s needs, priorities, and future direction.

Finally, the shortlisted candidates are shared with our membership through a formal ballot. Members vote to select the individuals they want to represent them on the ATCF Board.

This process ensures our board is shaped by our community and continues to reflect the collective voice of our membership.
