Established in 2016, the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund is a community of travel-related companies who believe that small, targeted projects can make a big difference in conservation. Although lean, our organization proudly funded 44 high-impact, community-led conservation projects, awarding $668,500 to initiatives across 26 countries. We have a membership of over 70 businesses in the travel and outdoor industries around the world including brands such as ATTA, Flickr, Eagle Creek, Backroads and Toad & Co.

Summary
The Membership & Engagement Manager is a key leadership role within the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF), a nonprofit dedicated to conservation whose members are in the tourism and outdoor gear industries. This motivated and organized individual will play a pivotal role in growing our membership base, driving impactful outreach, and ensuring operational excellence. The ideal candidate will lead efforts to engage with ATCF’s members, amplify its mission’s message, and cultivate funding support for various initiatives. With a strong background in membership engagement, fundraising, and relationship management, the Membership & Engagement Manager will assist in developing and implementing strategic plans to expand the organization’s membership base and revenue streams. This includes streamlining systems, enhancing internal fundraising processes, and strengthening ATCF’s capacity for sustainable growth over time. We are seeking a self-starter with a passion for conservation and a results-driven approach to deliver solid outcomes and meaningful impact for ATCF and its mission.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Engagement & Development
Support with the development and implementation strategies to recruit and retain members in the adventure travel and outdoor gear industries.
Build and maintain strong relationships with members to ensure satisfaction and long-term engagement.
Streamline membership communications, including renewals, welcome packets, and impact updates.
Maintain accurate membership records and track engagement metrics.
Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries and support.
Outreach & Communications
Plan and execute outreach campaigns to raise awareness of ATCF’s programs.
Collaborate with partners to create content for newsletters, social media, and blog posts.
Support event organization and promotion, including auctions, webinars, and member breakfasts.
Build connections with media and influencers to amplify ATCF’s mission.
Monitor and measure the success of marketing and outreach efforts.
Operational Support & CRM Management
Oversee and maintain ATCF’s CRM, ensuring accurate data and member engagement tracking.
Lead CRM optimization to enhance member communication and operational efficiency.
Provide support to streamline board and subcommittee activities, including restructuring initiatives.
Explore and implement AI tools to support meeting follow-ups and operational tasks.
Event and Fundraising Coordination
Collaborate with the team to execute the annual online auction and other key global events such as ATWS and Elevate.
Attend key ATCF and industry events to represent the nonprofit, recruit new businesses and connect with existing members.
Develop innovative strategies to enhance event participation and fundraising impact.
Job Skills and Qualifications
Experience in tourism and/or conservation; or a related field or equivalent experience (e.g., nonprofit management, marketing, business).
Proven experience in membership management, program coordination, or similar roles.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
Knowledge of Squarespace and digital communication tools is a plus.
Experience working with volunteers and a Board of Directors.
A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
Details:
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary: $60,000-$75,000
PTO: 15 days and U.S. public holidays (+1 week every 2 years for a maximum of 25 days)
Location: Remote (North American based preferred)
Travel: ~20 days/year
Other: Although this position does not include a traditional benefits package, it offers the opportunity to work on impactful initiatives alongside a committed team moving the needle in international conservation
