The Colombian Project: A Regenerative Economy Through Community Tourism in the Mataven Jungle: Q1 2024 Progress Report Summary

The project proposal outlines plans for a familiarization trip originally scheduled for February, aimed at promoting and commercializing the project with the participation of national operators and a team for professional video and photography material. However, the trip was postponed due to the passing of a community elder, with the new dates set for April 2nd to the 7th to respect the mourning period. Efforts have also been made to collaborate with Procolombia to include the destination in familiarization trips during the Nature Travelmart and organize a press trip later in the year, aligning with the project's promotion and commercialization milestones, which are of paramount importance in this grant.

Next Steps:

  1. After the trip in April, consolidate all the video & photography material and start promoting the destination more aggressively, nationally

  2. Develop the destination brand and social media channels

  3. Keep working with Procolombia to take the famtrip and press trip to promote the destination internationally

  4. Organize a second trip for the second semester of the year, to train the community start the development of the wildlife-watching product, and bring a few more operators
