THRIVE
Amplification of Grant Funding: ATCF Earmarking Program
New for the 2023 Grant Cycle
What is the Earmarking Program?
The Thrive program is a new initiative designed to raise additional funding for ATCF’s 2023 grantees. Our goal is to raise funds from groups who are not currently ATCF members, such as DMOs, travelers, and foundations who have a unique interest in a project. The Thrive Program will allow donors to earmark additional funds for a specific grant winner. Each year, the ATCF has a limited amount of funding to award to grant winners. These funds come directly from the annual dues of the ATCF membership, a group of businesses within the travel and outdoor industries.
Who is eligible to receive additional funding?
Only the current year’s grant winners, who are determined by ATCF membership votes, will qualify to receive additional funds. This is because they have already received the votes of highest confidence from members, and they are receiving a grant award that will enable complete (versus partial) project completion.
How Will It Work?
Once the grant winners are selected and announced, the ATCF will make every possible effort to reach groups who may be able to and are interested in, amplifying the funding. The ATCF will also do specific storytelling about each grant winner in an effort to raise more awareness about the important work being done by each community. Each Grant Winner will have a unique link to where they can direct supporters to donate. At the end of the year, the ATCF will award the original grant amount, plus any additional funds raised, to the grantee.
Role for Grantee
The Grantee will be responsible for supporting the ATCF in communicating this opportunity for raising additional funds for their project. They will support reaching out to local DMOs, tourism boards, current donors, and local community members.
Amplification Channels
DMOs/Tourism Boards - The ATCF will reach out to local DMOs and Tourism Boards to inquire about the possibility of donating additional funds, and/or supporting storytelling about the international adventure travel industry coming together to support a local project.
ATCF Members - ATCF members who feel connected to a specific project will support by storytelling about that project/destination to their travelers/customers and encourage donations to be directed towards that community.
Travelers - Via the ATCF membership, the ATTA, and the adventure.travel network, the ATCF will provide opportunities for earmarking donations to a specific project
Matching grants - The ATCF will solicit opportunities via membership, DMOs, or foundations to provide matching grants as an incentive to encourage individuals to donate to specific projects.
