North America Projects
North America is home to some of the world's most diverse landscapes and Indigenous cultures, from the boreal forests of Canada to the desert ecosystems of Mexico, each shaped by deep relationships between people and place. By funding conservation efforts across this region, the ATCF works to protect these vital ecosystems and the communities who have stewarded them for generations, ensuring that the lands and waters that define North American adventure travel remain healthy, thriving, and locally led.

#LIVETHEWILDPLEDGE, Vancouver Island North: Kwakwaka’wakw Territory
2025 Grantee | $15,000 | Nominated by Tartanbond Communications & Adopted by World Nomads
The coastlines of Northern Vancouver Island are under growing pressure from marine debris, including abandoned fishing gear and fallout from a major container spill that has been washing ashore for years. The #LiveTheWildPledge engages adventure travelers and beach hikers in the hands-on work of removing ocean plastic from remote coastal beaches within Kwakwaka'wakw First Nations Territory, connecting them with local ambassadors, drop-off infrastructure, and participating businesses to turn a visit into a measurable act of conservation.
